Tiptree Patisserie exhibited at the annual Open Farm Sunday event at the Tiptree fruit farm on Sunday 8th June 2025, where we showcased some of our traybakes, cakes, muffins and cookies. Along with some new lines including our Low Gluten Lemon Blossom traybake.
Open Farm Sunday, managed by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), is one of the farming industry’s biggest success stories. Since the first Open Farm Sunday in 2006, over 2000 farmers across Britain have opened their gates and welcomed over 3.25 million people onto farms for farming’s annual open day.
It is a fantastic opportunity for everyone, young and old, to discover at first hand what it means to be a farmer and what goes into running a busy farm.
“One of the main attractions at our Open Farm Sunday is the tour to the strawberry fields on the tractor drawn trailer or in one of Lodge’s historic coaches,” said Chris Newenham, joint managing director of Wilkin & Sons of Tiptree. “1100 people queued for a ride and many were curious about new developments on the farm and news of the investment in solar panels that have been installed to help power the jam factory”.
The star of the show as always was the strawberries – seeing them in the fields, tasting different varieties with Megan and enjoying them in a cream tea. Many adults were fascinated by the robotic developments displayed by the research team from University of Essex. Visitors could see the upgraded strawberry picker and the self-propelled UV robot that works in the strawberry fields at night to help minimize disease.
There was good food to suit everyone: with delicious burgers from Millins, home-made ice cream by Molly Moo’s Ices, fresh strawberries from the farm, and of course a wide variety of sweet treats from Tiptree Patisserie.
